The seniors
continued to play out there final league matches and gained a two point victory
over Killyclogher on Sunday afternoon in Ballinderry and also their chances for
a top four play off have now improved. For long periods of the game scores were
hard to come by but it was Christy Cassidy who got the first score of the game
seconds from the throw in. Both sides contributed to a lot of misses’ chances in
the time between the next score coming from Frank McGuigan converting a free
kick after 10 minutes. It took nearly another 20 minutes before another score
was taken during that match with both teams defending well but not getting the
finishes up front. Killyclogher got their first score from a free kick and
shortly after Frank McGuigan got his second point also from a free. It was in
the final few minutes that Ardboe got on the ball as Nishy O’Neill and Christy
Cassidy added two more with some good moves up field. At the break there was
four between the sides, 5-1 but in the second half Killyclogher got out of the
blocks quickest and soon reduced Ardboe’s lead to one point within ten minutes
with two frees and a point from play. From all the possession Ardboe had during
the first 30 minutes they found themselves one point up just and Killyclogher
were starting to get back into the game. Gavin Wylie then finished off a well
worked point involving Ciaran Campbell and Christy Cassidy. Killyclogher
responded with a point from a free but the games first goal came minutes later
as Nishy O’Neill kicked a free kick into the square that Cassidy fisted into the
bath of Frank McGuigan who finished well into the bottom corner. Again
Killyclogher hit back with a free kick and seconds later Cassidy again added his
third point of the game and Ardboe’s last score. Picking off two more late
frees, Killyclogher went goal hunting but Ardboe’s defence held strong with
great performances from Kieran Devlin, John McConville and Christy Cassidy. Full
