This weeks notes…

The seniors travelled to Derrylaughan to Face Aghyaran in a must win game if they were to push for a top four play off place and came away with a share of the spoils.
The game was played under wet and slippy conditions and a few regulars were also missing. It was Aghyaran who started the brightest with two score within the first ten minutes with Ardboe yet to get going, But Nishy O’Neill bagged the games only goal and Ardboe’s first score. It took some time for the next score to come by way of a free kick converted by Frank McGuigan on 17 minutes. From the kick out Tommy McGuigan sent the ball straight back in getting his first point of the game. Aghyaran soon responded with two points of their own but it was Frank McGuigan again with a free kick who finished the scoring of the half putting Ardboe 2 points up. HT: Ardboe 1-3 to 0-4. In the second half again Ardboe did not get going at all as Aghyaran fought for everything. Tommy McGuigan got the second half going but it took another 10 minutes for an Ardboe score from Nishy O’Neill as Aghyaran tagged a few points and now took the lead late in the half. It took a Paul Coney point just on full time for Ardboe to level things up and who were lucky to salvage the draw. Full Time: Ardboe 1-6 Aghyaran 0-9.

The Under 13’s suffered defeat by Newtownstewart on Saturday morning when they made the long journey for the semi-final of the league. Two points separated the sides in which Ardboe had a lot of misses. Scores on the day came from Michael Cassidy, M. Murray, P O’Neill, Eoin Quinn and J. Quinn but Newtownstewart edged them out at the last and it was a heartbreaking defeat for the lads who give it all this season. Full Time Score A: 3-6 N.T.S: 4-5.

Ladies: Seniors
The senior girls played the semi final of the league on Saturday at home in Ardboe against a very experienced and skilful Galbaly Side.  It was Galbally who got of to the best start going 5 points to 1 point very quickly in the first 10 mins.  However Maeve Wylie stepped up to the mark hitting a goal in the back of the net to reduce the deficit to 1 point.  Ciara Curran who is starting to show well for the team hit a great point which could easily have been a goal to level the sides.  Ardboe backs began to show great determination and skill holding the powerful and speedy Galbally forwards from scoring to the break.  Ardboe forwards where on the attack and got another goal from Ciara Curran, and a great point from Carolyn Bell before the break. The girls could have been further ahead at the break with missed goal opportunities, but went in happy at half time 4 points up.

The second half started very much as the first with Galbally taking charge for the first 15 mins of play hitting 4 consecutive points (2 easy frees) with no answer from Ardboe. Ardboe where to get another blow when there excellent goal keeper Sinead McVey got a sin bin for a controversial tackle.  Galbally very quickly evened up the game.  But it was Ardboe who showed the leadership on the field one player down they battled hard with excellent performances from the back line especially the very reliable Ciara Rocks who time and time again cleared the back line.  Ciara Curran with a point from play and Maeve Wylie a point left the girls winning the game by three points in the end.

The girls will now go on to play Beragh in the Final of the League.  Please check local press and shops for details of date, time and venue.
