The Seniors geared up for the Championship next week with a 10 point victory over Trillick at Michael Coney Park on Thursday evening
Tri Leac 0-06
A solid performance was the perfect way to get back to winning ways for the Seniors on Thursday evening, triumphing over Trillick by 10 points.
On the perfect evening for football Ardboe got off to a bright start with a Shea Forbes point pushing the hosts into an early lead. Trillick hit back with a point of their own, and after Frank and Tommy McGuigan landed points for Ardboe, the first goal of the game came midway through the half. An excellent build up saw Tommy McGuigan finish well to the Trillick net to open up a four point lead. Credit to Trillick who fought back with points of their own, but a John McConville point before the break saw Ardboe go in at half-time with a 1-05 to 0-04 lead.
The second half got off to a slow start, and it was nine minutes before Brian McGuigan landed the first score of the half. A couple of excellent scores by Mattie Brady opened up a comfortable lead as Ardboe pushed for home. Despite a couple of Trillick points to reduce the deficit, Ardboe always looked in command, and a Gavin Wylie penalty and a Shea Quinn point finishing off the scoring.
Ardboe: Ryan Coleman; Ciaran Coney, Martin McKeown, Eugene Devlin; Shea Quinn, Gavin Teague, Shea Forbes; Mickey Coleman, Tommy McGuigan; Matthew Brady, Brian McGuigan, Gavin Wylie; Frank McGuigan, John McConville, Thomas Wylie
