The seniors entertained newly promoted Kileeshil last Wednesday evening at Michael Coney Park and were fortunate to come out of the game with a share of the spoils as a very poor performance by the home side saw a draw at 9 a piece.
Although the playing conditions were dreadful, simple mistakes let the Rossas down and at the end of the first half it was four points each with Gavin Wlyie and Frank McGuigan hitting the only Ardboe scores while Kieran Quinn in nets denied Kileeshil a chance of goal mid way through the half.
In the second thirty minutes it proved that the younger players Matthew Brady and Gavin Teague who were to step up and keep Ardboe in the game with three well taken points although a well tipped over shot by the Kileeshil goal keeper denied Nishy O’Neill a goal chance. Kileeshil’s well taken free kicks saw Ardboe trailing much of the game and a lot of improvements are needed for the upcoming championship against Cookstown on Friday evening.
Congratulations and well done to both Tommy McGuigan and Kyle Coney who played their parts in the Tyrone senior and minor championship victories at the weekend. Also well done to Michael Lynn who took part in the half time mini games at Clones also.
