Strabane pushed Ardboe all the way on Saturday in Brocagh as extra time was needed to finally decide the tie although the Rossas did come back after a leading performance by their counterparts who were nine points up early in the first half.
With the league
finished on Wednesday night the more Important Championship clash against
Strabane on Saturday took centre stage in Brockagh and again minus a few players
the juveniles were pushed all the way and it took extra time to separate the
sides. Strabane took an early lead and extended their dominance on the match
through the first half lead 10 point to one, but a late comeback and two goals
from Kyle Coney late on reduced the Strabane lead to 2 points at the break. The
second half saw it neck and neck through out, many points from Kyle Coney and a
final one to draw things level from Mattie Bell after a tough second half
secured the draw and extra time at 2-9 a piece. In the first of the two 10
minute periods of extra time Ardboe’s only score came from a Sean Hagan Goal
after a great cross field ball from James Teague. Strabane tagged on one point
and it came down to the wire on the final period but out scoring their
counterparts by 3 points to 2 the juveniles finally shrugged off a impressive
Strabane challenge and clinched a place in the semi-final against Omagh.
We hope also that Ciaran Coney will have a speedy recovery after his injury on saturday.
